StuffIt is a program to compress files and expand archives. This program is especially useful when you want to transfer several files, since it creates smaller archives, that can contain several files and folders in them. This way you can create smaller email attachments, or expand them as well as other archives.
Stuffit has four wizards that will guide you through the process of creating new archives, compress files and send them by email, compress files and upload them via FTP or compress files and burn them on a CD or DVD. Under the Utilities section you will be able to schedule compressions, convert between the ZIP archive format and the proprietary SITX archive format. Stuffit will allow you to create archive files in these formats: Zip, StuffitX, LHA, Tar, Gzip, Bzip2 and Unix Compress, Uuencode, MacBinary, AppleSingle, BinHex and yEncode. When you run the program for the first time, it will scan your hard drives for archive files. The list of found archives will be later be available for use in Archive Manager, a utility that will allow you to manage your archive files.
